Puppy Dog Pose (with a chair)
This week has seen the arrival of a new family member. Yep, we got a dog! Already he's infused a great sense of fun andlove into our family. The kids loved him instantly and it's been wonderful to see them all interact. I've been admiring (a little jealously..) his ability to chill out and rest in the sun, hisplayfulness and joy at the simple things (tummy tickle, anyone??) And my 'yoga brain' has been marvelling at hisenergy and the way he stretches out so luxuriously!
So, let's take a look at 'Puppy Dog Pose'; a beautiful spine andleg lengthener, shoulder and chest opener set to boost yourenergy and wake-up a stiff back. It's a variation of Ardho-Mukha-Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog pose) - the use of a chair makes it a little easier to come in to.
Ready to try?
>> Place hands on the back of a chair with palms shoulder-distance apart.
>> Step feet back until they align under hips, creating a right angle with your body, spine parallel with the floor.
>> Ground through feet and lift through thighs.
>> Reach hips away from hands to lengthen the sides of your torso.
>> Firm your outer arms in and lengthen through the crown of your head.
>> Stay here for 5-10 slow, yummy breaths. Enjoy!
Wishing you a calm and playful day, Bronni x
