A Beautiful Way to say 'Hello'.
At the end of my yoga classes, when (hopefully) my participants are feeling light, calm and relaxed, I like to sign off with an ancient sanskrit word, 'namaste'. Teamed with the palms pressed together at the heart, and bowing, the word 'namaste' (pronounced nah-mah-stay) roughly translates as 'the divine spark in me, sees the divine spark in you'. Nice, huh? It's a great way to acknowledge that we are all equal, we all have peace, calm and goodnessinside.
I like to express my gratitude to the gorgeous people that show up on the mat in my classes, and it's also a nice way for you to bow to yourself, thanking yourself for investingyour time, money and efforts in your yoga journey.
This sweet greeting can be used to say 'hello' as well as 'goodbye'.
I've been pondering our often rushed greetings off the mat; 'How are you?', 'Yeah, good thanks.' Sound familiar? How often are we truly interested in how our friend/colleague/check-out guy really is? And do wehonestly stop to tune in and listen? Hmm.. These interactions often fall victim to an auto-pilot response. So I challenge you (and me!) to pause and enquire as to the wellbeing of your comrades.
Make eye contact, listen, smile. Acknowledge that shinyspark within both of you. And when you are asked how you are, switch it up from the usual 'good'. Feeling wonderful? Say so! Got the sniffles? Tell it like it is!

Kids Holiday Yoga!
I love teaching these fun, crazy, calming holiday classes for kids! Join me and my own little yogis10am-11am Wednesday 1st and 8th July @ Whitebridge Wellness Centre, Dudley Road Whitebridge. $12, $5 siblings. (Parents hop up the road to Pegs Cafe for a coffee while the kids get their yoga on!)
