Balance and Be...
So I know you're skimming through this post egg-nog in hand, so I'll keep it short n sweet..! This time of year it's easy to feel out-of-whack, out of sorts and out of balance. Let's try one of my all-time favourite poses, Vrksasana, or Tree Pose to help you back to your centre.
Physically challenging ourselves with a balance pose really does help to calm the mind. In a nutshell you'll be so busy concentrating on staying on one leg that there's no time to focus on all the junk spinning around in your head! (Sorry about that assumption..)
Vrksasana also helps to strengthen the legs and there are lots of options for your arms (your branches).
Start by standing in Tadasana, and really feel into your feet. Sway back and forth a little (dare-devils can try it with eyes closed..) and find an even balance.
Now, really strengthen the right leg, and move the heel of the left foot to rest on the right ankle. Left leg will be bent and the knee faces left. You can stay here, or work on moving the foot up the right leg to rest above or below the knee joint.
Now for the arms. Be creative (you're a tree, remember!) and make your branches by your heart, above your head (for that angelic feeling..) or out to the side.
Soften your face, smile and breath! Stay a few breathes, then swap sides. Enjoy.
Wishing you a calm and balanced day, Bronni x

I'm Bronni. I love to lie down. On a mat, perhaps with a blanket and yoga bolster. A 20 minute session can help me go from chaos to calm... These musings are all about finding calm, Restorative Yoga and it's amazing benefits.
